I had a sea lion steal a 25-30 lb blue fin off a jig and threw the thing around at the surface until it finally tore chunks off.
I think the sea lion teeth are meant for holding fish, not cutting so much. So they use that flinging method to break up prey that is larger than they can swallow whole. |
