That’s 2”. I like the way it flexes. Stored all of my hobies like this and haven’t had any problems.

The height of my cart is just higher then my tailgate. But you want to measure with your tailgate down where you will be actually loading. I I built the cart a little oversized, but that was just using up all the material I had, and there’s always going to be a kayak on it. So it doesn’t really matter.
