Ditmar Hulls are known for riding the waves well, unlike some other hulls that pound the seas. The wooden hulls were built by Seaco in Costa Mesa, a partnership of Ditmar and Donaldson that started after WW2. The Freedom was built in 1961. Its sister boats are the Grande(originally the America) and the Liberty.
