Just for an update, a bunch of us went out and gave it a try for Local Tuna. As is often the case, with fishing, the fish don't care what plans you make. It was, as most times, still a great day on the water. It was great to have company and see the Solo Skiffs out so far, cover so much water, have so much fun all the while spending less than a Craft 6 pack of beer. The Tuna, will come and the FUN, will NEVER STOP.

No takers
Rough fishing out there, anyone with a 14’ or bigger skiff was at the 9 Saturday. I think we ended out past the fleet up by Torrey Pines, was roughly a 60mile round trip. Definitely will be back out there a lot this summer! Skiff handles offshore like a cloud.
Buddy hoped in on a paddy a speared a 15lb YT, but that was all. Not a ton of life, foamers would pop up then sink as any boat would approach, charter boats seemed to pick em off here and there with a shit ton of chum. |

The volume of fish out at the top of the north nine was incredible Saturday. We were out on a 17 skiff and opted to do a late run knowing everything and everyone would be out Saturday. Not to our surprise the boat launch was filled with everyone coming in at 4pm. Most people we talked to didn’t have problems finding fish but just not able to get a bite. We hooked and landed at 65lbs on the popper at sunset which took us into the dark. Epic foamers.

Good Call

I had a shot at one really large foamer, but on my second cast a PB rolled up right on top of them, SMH, oh well it was still a good confidence builder for many trips ahead. Bring on the DODO and YF... |
