If you're using the Strand as a home base and you need to get away early, park a vehicle across the highway in the Cays development with your gear stashed. Hike out, get in the car and jam! There's plenty of fish to be had in the South Bay, just not a lot of monsters. Bring a shrimp pump and hit the bayside to make bait at tides under 3'. Dropshot 12"-18" up to keep your bait outta the eelgrass. You ought to catch something, at least some spots, maybe a bonefish, which will you make you smile on light tackle.

There is a tunnel that takes you across the highway into the bayside...kinda scary to leave anything lying around

I launched there and called for pick up...I spoke to a few people who have had great luck wiht ghost shrimp...Next time I will try those!

We are going to get another try, in a few weeks. (IF ITS NOT TO COLD) The wife won't like it!
