July 23 SD Bay

Good afternoon fishing family. Got out on San Diego Bay this morning at about 640 launching from the shelter island launch ramp. Cloudy morning light breeze water was warm on my ankles as I launched. Trolled out to the shelter Island pier area casted my plastics and within 15 minutes, got hammered by a 17 1/2 inch Sandy. Released her and within 10 minutes caught another Sandy, which was about a foot long. did not get many more bites in that area after that. So made my way over to the north Island side, where I trolled with no bites as I went across the bay. Trolled the shoal markers and oddly enough cut my third fish, which turned out to be a Corbina. first time I?ve caught a Corbina let alone did not expect to catch one on a plastic while trolling. No other bites in the area made my way over to the shelter Island lower range markers fished out for a while and was able to catch one spotty. About 10 inches long. Wrapped my day up at about 10 AM. spoke to a couple other fisherman that were out on their kayaks, who said they also caught one or two fish.

The colors that worked for me today were white, dark, green and motor oil red. Also have note the wind picked up early again this morning somewhere around 9 AM which kind of pushed me across the bay when I was on the shelter Island side

That third fish looks like a corvina. Good eats.
