Damn... my fishfinder blacked out when it got deeper than 200 ft! Then it said I was in 14' of water. It's just a temporary Eagle 242 but doesn't get deep readings. Nice fishfinder Jim! Is that the one you got from ebay?

It's refurbished and came with a five year warranty and the California Mexico g2 Bluechart chip. The chip alone is worth a hundred bucks. It's the best deal I'd seen until they offered it again for $264 without the bluechart. I ordered one of those as a backup but the ran out of stock and had to return my money. The one I bought on ebay is a 498 which is the same model the US Bluecharts built in as a base map an external antenna, and a larger more powerful transducer. I paid about the same but it does not have the extended warranty or the Mexico chip. I love these chartplotter sounders, we'll see how long it holds up. I can't seem to kill my 120 but I like the bigger brighter screen and the chart potter aspect of the 398. Jim |
