Yellowtail 33lbs

I got to fish with Johnny Ceviche today and he helped me find and catch a yellowtail today. Man, he is a stud. Thanks Josh for helping me secure the fish.

Not only did he help me catch the fish, he video taped it!!!!!

Nice fish and video. I like the tail slap retake. Strange thing about that video was seeing an empty stern on Joshs boat.

WTG on the PB and for getting it on the iron!

I saw you go bendo out there this morning. Nice fish. Guess you're a confirmed 'ironman' now.

Very nicely done, a swing and a miss, stuck the gaff, then it looks as if the gaff came out when ya got him on deck?

With all that tail thumpin' acrobatics, bet when you ripped the gills the blood was a-flowin'...good job.

Sure seemed like you were a bit happy getting him...

Thank you for sharing. Another option is to place the gaff over the fish – pushing down & pulling towards you. Now put your reel in freespool and in a rod holder before attempting to slide the fish up on deck.

I have to honest, I was nervous when I was about to gaff the fish. I usually fish with my eXtreme, but yesterday, I decided to take the prowler out because it's easier to paddle and I'm not as tired after the trip. I'm still not comfortable with the prowler because it's less stable and I wasn't confident with the gaff. And the fish looked huge in the water.

Yes, the gaff came out when the fish was on deck.

Thanks for the tip. I have to remember this for my next fish.
