btw, how would you rate the fight between the roosterfish, jack cravelle, and yellowtail?
He had leashes on both rods so thankfully he lost nothing.
All these fish are Jacks therefore all are very tough. YT may be considered tougher because they live in an area often where they can rock or kelp you. But that All pull very hard and are a great catch.

As to the question about gear on the kayaks. We have panga support on these trips so they guys can spend more time fishing and less time paddling to the spots, so they can also leave extra gear on the boat. Not to say you are not paddleing it is just for the long runs it is much easier to drag or carry the kayaks. On the Marlin Craig had been on the water trolling for about two hours before he got hooked up. The spot where we got the Roosters is about 8 miles down the beach from the hotel so we toss the kayaks in the boat to run there.
It is also much easier for me to run from client to client taking photos and video from boat. We had such high winds every day on this trip that if we didn't use a boat you would have been stuck fishing in a very small area close to the hotel to be safe. Lots of reasons to use the support boat down there but mainly as I said it gives the people more fishing time and less paddling time from spot to spot.
