I've caught Halibut, Ling cod, Yellows, white seabass, Yellowfin tuna, Albacore tuna, and even threshers on plastic. I've honestly probably caught more white seabass on plastic then bait, but they were small fish, with maybe the biggest one running around ten pounds. Here's a shallow water Ling I got on the Cortez on plastic that's bigger then that.... Here's a even larger halibut I got on plastic in Santa Monica Bay... ![]() Obviously those are both skiff or boat fish, not kayak fish. You can pretty much catch anything on a plastics, it's just about presentation, and getting it in front of them, especially when it comes to seabass and yellows, when it's cold you have to put it right on their nose. I should fish them more at La Jolla but I' usually too busy with bait and Iron to mess with them. Jim |
