Salt Lake City, Ut - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Not kayak or fish related.....we're planning a road trip to SLC, anyone have any ideas on things to do, where to go?

Park City is just a short drive away if you like to ski. Held the winter Olympics there.

You can swim in the Great Salt Lake if you can stand the smell of the "brine", although it may be a bit cold. Park City is 25 minutes away to the East and has world class skiing/snowboarding. I highly recomend you eat at the "El Rodizio Grill" for non-stop Brazilian Barbeque, an unforgetable dining experience!

Head on up the hill to Park City as other mentioned. The food alone is worth the road trip from so cal!

*Ciseros - Italian food is f'n fantastic! (Main St in Park City)
*Grubsteak is pretty darn good too. In town...
*Visit the Olympic Park for sure and ride the bob sled. (Near the Canyons)
*NYPD Pizza is pretty good too. (Jeremy Ranch / near the outlets)
*If its snowy head down to the City of Heber and ride the Heber Creeper.

*Trout fishing on the Provo River is first class! Bring yer rod & waders too. If you come up the back side from Provo towards Heber City you will know exactly where I am talking about. You will see the Provo River on your right.FISH IT.

If you are in SLC and have any interest in local history, visit the LDS offices downtown. They have a crew of very knowledgeable docents who will take you to the top of their building, (the tallest in town) while giving a very interesting short history of the region and the LDS church. They are very careful not to come off as recruiters but if you are curious about Mormon culture, these are the folks to ask.

I used to live in Park City and even as a semi-local, I learned a lot of things that I did not know. It is worth a couple hours of your time.

You gotta eat at the Red Iguana. Some of the best Mexican food I've had. I 2nd El Rodizio as well.
