You look like you are almost bored to death! How dare that shark interrupt your fishing time!?

Gorgeous day out there till right before we got off the water at about 2ish, and even then not bad. I will have to check out soupfin. I just looked on the DFG site real quick and picked the one that looked most like what I saw.

That sucker looks like the same tiburon I caught 2 weeks ago. Did he have a nice sore in the left corner of his mouth? If so, that boy just won't learn.
I'm thinking soupfin as well....but then again I'm no expert. I was pretty stoked pulling on that thing as its been 5 months since I've caught anything, until it came to color. ![]() |

Direct from the horses mouth:
The brown and other smoothhounds can be distinguished from the soupfin shark since their second dorsal fins originate well in advance of the beginning of the anal fin; while in the soupfin, the second dorsal begins behind the origin of the anal fin. Funny that this is the only mention of the Soupfin in the fish identification section, and no pics. But after viewing again I can clearly see that the fins start about the same location so Soupfin it is. |

I did not notice any other piercings on the fish I caught, but I read something about them hanging in group of up to 10 or 20. My 2 friends were both hooked up minutes prior to me but were busted and/or bit off.
