The security device you speak of is called"Pay attention to what the hell you are doing!" NO reason to allow your drive to get lost at the beach.
 Now, if someone finds a rod in the surf, can they keep it? How about a drive? Just sayin, I would try to figure out who it belongs to but not really very hard.
