I've seen that behavior once before off the Pacific coast of Baja. About 7 yellows rubbing on a 5 foot mako that seemed to be just sitting there. It always stuck in my head because I'd never seen or heard of that before.

A few months ago I got Milton Love's new book "Certainly More Than You Wanted to Know About Fishes of the Pacific Coast". On the section about yellowtail it mentions that exact same behavior and suggests they do that to dislodge parasites.
