Hey Bret I'm glad you remembered the steps to landing halibut:

1 When you see color reach far into the water to try to get them (3feet is perfect)

2 Gaff with the hook pointed to the kayak

3 Aim at the hard part of the skull, the gaff will stick better.

4 Immediately after gaffing, lift up the fish clear of the water and shake it around.

I have it mounted to my yak attack flag pole
there is a flag in the picture but i take that off when i run the camera

I was at Albertsons this morning and they want $10 for a 5 oz piece of Halibut. You gotta be kidding me that's $32/lb. Even at CatalinaOP it's $14/lb. My freezer is looking pretty stocked again, Thanks Islander crew.

Limiting out on Halibut is an amazing accomplishment. Limiting out on quality halibut is pure awesomeness, congrats on an epic day and thanks for sharing! Also saw your video on 976tuna, way to go.

Thanks everyone for all the great comments! I thought i might inspire jorge or maybe even mattstinky to do a little better next time but.... whoa the darkhorse is inspired?!......i must be movin up in the world!

All kidding aside great trip! Great food, great boat, great crew fast and efficent, professional what more could you ask for! I hope they add a few trips this year!!
