Hook going back into live bait ruining bait

Using 4/0 owner circle hooks through a green backs nose I've found the hook point tends to shift and foul hook the lower jaw reducing live time and natural action of the bait. Even with large greenbacks this often occurs. Could switch to a smaller hook but it may reduce hookups with less circle hook. 4/0 owner live bait j hooks seem physically smaller than the circles of the same size. I have less issues with the js.

To resolve the hook from going back into the fish I will try putting an owner glow beed on the hook to restrict the hook from re hooking the bait. Seen some folks use chopped rubber bands for live bait bass fishing.

I just run my hook up through the roof of the mouth instead of sideways through the nose and problem solved.

The bead is a good idea. Like other posters said, I've found hooking the baits up thru the nose to be better than across. Mike

someone posted a video about sewing bait onto the hook, does anyone have that link. It looks to me like the best way to present live bait.
