Trolling motors?

Dose anyone use trolling motors while kayak fishing, either to get to a fishing point or just to stay in one spot in the current. Is that anti-kayak? I have a Hobie so im already a non-purest. I know that you need a license for your boat with a motor but how about attaching it to the boat after you get out aways. Do you think the Harbor Patrol would ticket you?

I just started rethinking about this because I was fishing yesterday at DP and saw this guy using a trolling motor to get around, he could get to the areas that took me a 1/2 hour to get to in just a few minutes.
