Is this for real?!

So the surf report shows 5-8ft as of right now, yet the webcam is showing some lovely surf... Whats going on? I need to get a better feel for this surf report thing.

Cheers,

The point blocks the south swell from the launch area. The surf reports are for the beach down by the pier which is not blocked quite as well from the point when the swell comes out of the south.

I was at the launch this moring and it was a lake. Easy afternoon landings. its been mission bay like. The last few day have been sunny, warm, clear, calm.

And oh yeah, almost forgot....not crowed at fishings grounds and beach. the next three days will be a much diffrent story. Stay home and BBQ. I got plenty of fish to feed everyone!!

long period ground swell is cake at the launch, as that finger of the canyon draws all its energy that and tucked in from the cove..........100 yards down the beach is a little different story

I've seen ankle slappers at the launch and crowds of surfers just north of the pier riding some pretty large waves. It's pretty amazing how mother nature works.

LJ was like a washing machine today. Wind on top didn't help. In the trough to top of swell was 5.5 feet! Not for the unbalanced or faint of heart. Good news is, plenty of sardines around and an ocasional YT
