They updated the post on the Hobie forums with additional pics with two rods in one holder, but they do not recommend doing that

I think it's a start and I'm sure someone will mod it to work for multiple rods for surf launching.

I have used the paddle bungies to hold up to 6 rods with the reels stowed. Went through plenty of waves just fine without coming loose. Not sure why you need the pocket and clamp but it will probably sell well anyway if you only want to carry one or two rods.
