I'll be carrying a copy with me whenever I'm out fishing.

CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE 1 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

Section 25.

”The people shall have the right to fish upon and from the public lands of the State and in the waters thereof, excepting upon lands set aside for fish hatcheries, and no land owned by the State shall ever be sold or transferred without reserving in the people the absolute right to fish thereupon; and no law shall ever be passed making it a crime for the people to enter upon the public lands within this State for the purpose of fishing in any water containing fish that have been planted therein by the State; provided, that the legislature may by statute, provide for the season when and the conditions under which the different species of fish may be taken.”

There's an implementation date, but this isn't the last word. Bob Fletcher, UASC and Coastside are 3-0 in the legal battle. Vote in favor of the fight here: http://www.oceanaccessprotectionfund.org

For LJ, this means paddling out past the point. The pier remains open for bait only. Everything else past the pier is closed, as is La Jolla south of Windansea.

The entire coast from NPH to Dana will be closed.

Who do these people think they are?

This maybe a dumb question, but how can you implement a closure when there is a legal challenge in court that has not been ruled upon?

Can this issue be put on a ballot for other Californians to vote on.

I don't think its fair, that a small group of people can make a decisions

that affect so many others...

Welcome to the real world of big money politics where the Golden Rule prevails, (the one with the most gold makes the rules).

Even in the unlikely event that an issue like this was to be put on the ballot, I am not sure the results would go our way. The opposition has lots of money to spend on marketing their point of view and the general public that is very ignorant when it comes to this subject. Most would not take the time to learn the real facts.

I like the idea of carrying around a copy of the constitution. That would be an interesting defense should someone get popped for fishing in one of the MLPA closed zones.

Bob

In that case, the small group will be the judges to over rule our vote.

Does legal Medical pot or Gay marriage ban both being overruled by the judges sound familiar?

The same will happen if we vote this crap law out.
I'm with the others...

I'll fish where I've always fished. The DFG won't have the manpower to keep this enforced for long, even if they make a show enforcement in the beginning.

I hate to be that guy, but this country is going to hell quick style. Alas, our once great state is leading the charge.
