I've got a question for y'all that use a trailer for your kayaks. I have Thule racks on my truck so I have little experience with such light weight trailers. I've towed bass boats and such, but never anything little. Do you have much issues with them bouncing around due to their light weight?
I recently bought a 9' Boston Whaler and it is a PITA to load and unload from my truck bed. I want to buy an old jet ski trailer for it, but am concerned since the boat only weights a couple hundred pounds with the outboard I am going to have issues.

PA trailer made from an old canoe trailer
Found an old canoe trailer 3" X 3" main tongue for $280 on craigslist. Removed old brackets and bolted down 2X3 galvanized bars. Added PA cradles from fastlane and made an instant heavy duty PA dragster trailer. I can tow it behind a toy Matrix at 35 mpg w/ no bounce or worry. I use a $59 trailer dolly to take it from the street and park it behind 2 gates and protect it with 3 dogs....hahaha...

Trailer
Here are a few pics of my trailer...I just had the tongue extended and it really makes the ride and the loading a lot better. The first two pics are before the tongue extension...
It was an old motorcycle trailer that i bought for $150 and I added the speed rail rack....I use a lot of this aluminum pipe and fittings in the film biz. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good Luck Jim / Saba Slayer |
