Right on gang, more and more people are signing up.
It ought to be fun, the fish are moving in. Swell forecast looks great - 1 to 2 ft at Scripps Pier this whole week. That usually equals 0 to 1 ft at the LJ Launch... Flat. http://cdip.ucsd.edu/?nav=recent&sub...item=sio_waves This wind seems to have finally died off. http://www.iwindsurf.com/windandwher...orecast+Graphs It will be a beautiful day... With a lot of big fish for all. It will be fun regardless, it always is. Please sign up early if you're a game - don't show up on Saturday to eat our burgers... ![]() I like no entry list published... ![]() I've got a new suggestion - how about no food for folks who walk up on Saturday... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Good question.
In true spirit to the sport of kayak fishing, it was decided that the bait passed from the boat can not be used. The fish caught on "boater's bait" won't be eligible. Starting at 4:30 AM, the sign-in table with coffee will be at the end of Avenida De La Playa. You will see it as you pull in on the right hand side, in front of La Jolla Shores Hotel utility entrance gate. Pick up the shirt, sign in / sign the waiver, please stop by. This is mandatory - the fish you catch won't be eligible unless you are signed in, even if you paid the entry fee. Sign in table will be there till 6:00 AM. Please keep the noise at minimum. La Jolla Shores Hotel and La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club are very much supportive of our sport. We ought to be respectful to their guests (plus we don't want to wake up Gary's wife ![]() You can launch right after you signed in; you can start looking for & start catching bait. At 6:00 AM, the "LINES IN" will be announced on VHF ch. 71 to mark the official start. The fish hooked prior to this announcement at 6:00 AM will not be eligible for entry - even if it was landed after the VHF tournament start announcement. 12:00 PM sharp is the weigh-in deadline. The angler has to be with feet on the sand by noon sharp, or the fish is not eligible. The BBQ, awards and the raffle will be in the park North of La Jolla Shores Hotel, right by the Life Guard station. In case of no eligible fish is submitted... Well, we'll figure it out. There will be eligible fish submitted. ![]() Tight lines all!!! |

To elaborate on D50s question. I was asked my opinion and personally had no problem with someone getting bait from a boat, but being a tournament and not wanting anyone to feel that they were at a disadvantage, saying no makes the most sense.
Imagine it is one of those days where bait is no where to be found, the guy spending the morning tossing his sabiki and not making one bait, while you hook up fish after fish on your tank of sardines is definitely gonna feel slighted. I hope everyone has a contender at the scale, that would be cool!
