I use a 360 GPH WITH A 6v 12a for the bait tank, and I keep bait alive allllllll day and then some. For my FF I use a 12v 12a battery and I've been on the water 12+ hours with no problems at all. When I first started off I had both to a 12v with a 500GPH pump. My bait got beat up and my battery life was only around 5-6 hours. I would recommend going with 2 separate batteries on 2 different systems. As stated above if it shorts your bait and FF are done, along with your day. I don't use a timer or anything like that. I try to keep the wiring on a kayak as simple as possible and try to keep switches and anything extra out of the mix. I believe in the KISS method. Keep It Simple Stupid. I also re wire everything every season. Keeping a simple system makes this easier. I'm out on the water a lot and salt water is a true enemy of anything electronic.
