I have looked into this treatment a bit. Apparently it really works. The demo at this year's CES show was a treated phone on display in a fish tank full of water for the duration of the show.

From what I hear, the actual treatment costs pennies and involves coating the electronic components with some sort of a waterproof film. When this treatment is purchased from the this company the phone has to be disassembled, coated and reassembled thus the high cost. Eventually we could see some manufacturers using this process during product assembly and offering waterproof devices fresh from the factory.

Ive been using the lifeproof case on my iphone for several months now and it works just like it says it does. I take it out fising with me everytime, get it wet and.....no problems. I even wash it with soap and water under the sink when it gets dirty, i find it to be an exellent iphone case.
Just my opinion

The liquidpel looks cool but does not have any shock, drop protection....dont know about anybody else but i drop my phone all th time and in tis case it survives easily.

Tony.

I picked one up at Best Buy in January and put my new 4S in the case before I left the register - haven't had it out since. Picked up the belt clip/holster as well to carry the thing around.

Planning on using the case as splash proof and not necessarily water proof and will hope for the best in the event of an unplanned occurance. So far so good and I like it - there's a few videos on the net showing the waterproofness of the unit when dropping it in a fish tank and such.

Would like to see how one lanyards or attaches a floation piece to the unit -
